Legacy Giving

The single greatest gift you can make to ensure our valuable work continues is through a planned gift to the Wisconsin Academy Foundation’s endowment fund.  These legacy gifts provide the financial cornerstone for building our future.  As an independent, nonprofit membership organization, the Wisconsin Academy does not receive money from the state or the university. We rely upon private endowments, grants, and member donations to carry out our service to the public.

Your gift helps complete your legacy. A planned gift may be tailored to reflect your own means and interests. It is a legacy that should carry on the values and beliefs you stand for. By giving careful consideration to what, when, and how to give, you help ensure a maximum impact from your gift. Whichever way you decide to give, leaving a legacy to the Wisconsin Academy is easy to do, productive, and gratifying.

Legacy Giving Options

Legacy gifts can come in many shapes and certainly different sizes.  We encourage you to make a gift that is significant to you and your family.

Your estate may receive a charitable deduction for your bequest to the Wisconsin Academy.  As each contributor has different financial concerns, we encourage you to think about the variety of options available to you.

  • Specific bequest: You give an exact sum of money or particular items of property
  • Percentage bequest: You bequeath a percentage of the total value of your estate to the Wisconsin Academy.
  • Residuary bequest: You direct that the remainder or residue of your estate go to the Wisconsin Academy after all specific bequests have been fulfilled.
  • Contingent bequest: You name the Wisconsin Academy to receive any bequests that cannot be fulfilled.

When you next update your will, please consider including a bequest to the Wisconsin Academy. Whatever its size, your bequest will strengthen our ability to examine the world and create a better Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Academy would be pleased to assist you and your advisors in creating a permanent gift. If you would like to learn more about legacy giving, please contact Adam Erdmann, development director, at 608-263-1692, ext. 14.  All legacy gift information will be held in complete confidence.
