Michael Kriesel
Michael Kriesel's poems have appeared in Alaska Quarterly, North American Review, The Progressive, Rattle, and Verse Wisconsin, and he's written reviews for Library Journal and Small Press Review. Winner of the 2003 Lorine Niedecker Award from the Council for Wisconsin Writers and the 2009 Muse Prize from the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, Kriesel was featured at the 2010 Great Lakes Writers Festival. His books include Chasing Saturday Night: Poems About Rural Wisconsin (2005, Marsh River Editions) and Feeding My Heart To The Wind: Selected Short Poems (2007, Sunnyoutside). He's served on the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission, and is the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets Conference Coordinator. Kriesel has a BS in literature from the University of the State of New York, was a print and broadcast journalist in the U.S. Navy, and currently is a janitor at the elementary school he once attended.
