Academy Evenings in Sheboygan

HIV/AIDS continues to be a pervasive problem that consumes portions of Africa., a health and social psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychology at Lakeland College, has spent four summers in eastern Africa learning and teaching about HIV/AIDS. She has conducted seminars and workshops with youth, individuals with disabilities and people living with HIV, using projects and materials designed by Lakeland students to supplement her work. Helion will discuss HIV/AIDS in Africa, cultural contributions to the spread of the problem and the ways she believes education can help slow the expansion of this devastating disease.
