Lynet Uttal is a professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and director of the Asian American Studies Program. Her current research on Latino immigrant families draws on community-based research and education workshops that were conducted in Dane County. She is the author of a book,
Making Care Work: Employed Mothers in the New Childcare Economy (Rutgers University Press, 2002) and has written such articles as, "Community Caregiving And Community Consciousness: Immigrant Latinas Developing Communities Through Social Service Programs" and "(Re)Visioning Family Ties To Communities and Contexts". Uttal was a two time recipient of the Oscar and Elsa M. Mayer Foundation Grant, which funded her university-community partnership work with Latino families.
