Wisconsin Ideas

The Wisconsin Academy is home to some of best ideas in Wisconsin since we were founded in 1870. We're proud to be stewards of the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission and to provide the state poet laureate with a virtual space here on our website and financial support. We also support beneficial environmental and cultural programs like the State Natural Areas Preservation Council and the Hessen-Wisconsin Writers Exchange Program. We are also a partner in the Cultural Coalition of Wisconsin, which supports Wisconsin culture, arts, humanities and history in many ways, including the website PortalWisconsin.org.

Perhaps our best-known ideas are our Wisconsin Idea at the Wisconsin Academy public policy programs, which have recently tackled such complex issues as the future of our rural communities, the health of our lakes and streams, and the promise and perils of genetically modified foods.
