The nonprofit Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters connects people and ideas from all areas of knowledge and all walks of life to celebrate thought, culture and nature in our state and help solve our common problems. Our four core programs are our art gallery, the James Watrous Gallery, in the Overture Center for the Arts, Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine, Academy Evenings, our public forums, and the Wisconsin Idea at the Wisconsin Academy (now examining The Future of Farming and Rural Life in Wisconsin). The Wisconsin Academy, founded in 1870, is an independent, nonprofit organization, separate from state government and the university. We are funded by grants, by private endowments and by our members. Anybody can enrich their lives with our programs and support them by becoming a member. We encourage you to join!
