YOUR WISCONSIN WORLD: A poetry workshop with Robin Chapman
What do you most value about Wisconsin? If you had to choose, what would you want to preserve and what would you want to change? Poet Robin Chapman will guide you through a creative discussion about the state of Wisconsin. No prior experience with poetry necessary. Chapman will introduce you to several poetic structures you may use to write and share your ideas, knowledge, feelings, and memories. The workshop will include short voluntary readings of your creations and a discussion of how the written word can illuminate civil dialogue.

COMMITTING TO WISCONSIN: An arts workshop with Helen Klebesadel
What is your personal commitment to Wisconsin? Artist Helen Klebesadel will lead you through a creative exploration of our personal plans for leadership and action. No prior experience with visual art necessary. Klebesadel will introduce you to various methods to use drawing to express your hopes and fears for our state. The workshop will include sharing your creations and a discussion of how art can contribute to our civil dialogue.

Helen Klebesadel is an artist and director of the Wisconsin Regional Arts Program

SUSTAINABLE WISCONSIN with Jane Elder, Meredith Keller, and John Magnuson
Sustainability depends on complementary strategies across social, environmental and economic systems. What do you value most about Wisconsin’s environment and how it shapes our quality of life? How can the sciences, arts and letters help build the kinds of healthy systems that can sustain environmental quality and strengthen ecological resilience in a time of rapid change? Learn about the Academy’s two environmental initiatives with Executive Director Jane Elder, Initiatives Director Meredith Keller, and Academy Fellow John Magnuson, and share your ideas on strategies to make Wisconsin more sustainable and resilient.

John Magnuson is a professor emeritus of zoology and limology at UW-Madison and an Academy Fellow.
