Sallie Anna Steiner is the Events and Communications Manager at the Wisconsin Academy. She holds a PhD in Folklore from the University of Wisconsin—Madison, where her research focused on community engagement through and with craft, particularly in the context of migration and resettlement in immigrant and refugee communities. Sallie Anna has a passion for public arts and has worked as a consultant and project assistant for museums, libraries, arts and culture nonprofits, and government arts boards in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Norway. Prior to joining the Wisconsin Academy, Sallie Anna served as the program manager at Folklore Village, a traditional arts nonprofit in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. In her spare time, Sallie Anna enjoys sewing, language-learning, taking in music events and outdoor activities, and continuing to chip away at her academic research and publishing. She also stays active in the Madison community by serving on the Leadership Council of Open Doors for Refugees and on the Board of Directors at Union Cab Cooperative.
