
Sallie Anna Steiner was the Events and Communications Manager at the Wisconsin Academy from August 2021 through October 2022. She holds a PhD in Folklore from the University of Wisconsin—Madison, where her research focused on community engagement through and with craft, particularly in the context of migration and resettlement in immigrant and refugee communities. Sallie Anna has a passion for public arts and has worked as a consultant and project assistant for museums, libraries, arts and culture nonprofits, and government arts boards in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Norway. Outside of work, Sallie Anna enjoys sewing, language-learning, taking in music events and outdoor activities, and continuing to chip away at her academic research and publishing. She also stays active in the Madison community by serving on the Leadership Council of Open Doors for Refugees and on the Board of Directors at Union Cab Cooperative.
