The Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters is celebrating our 150th anniversary and the latest issue of Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine with virtual readings by Fiction & Poetry contest winners. Click the button below to join us live on Facebook at 10:00 am on June 25 to hear Lisa Vihos read a few poems, including her award-winning work, “Lesson at the Checkpoint,” from the Wisconsin People & Ideas 2015 Poetry Contest.

On June 15, 2020, Lisa Vihos was named by the mayor of Sheboygan as the city’s first poet laureate. Lisa has received two Pushcart Prize nominations and several awards from the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters. Her fourth chapbook, Fan Mail from Some Flounder, was published by Main Street Rag Publishing in 2018. She is the poetry and arts editor of Stoneboat Literary Journal and the Sheboygan organizer for 100 Thousand Poets for Change. In 2018, Lisa compiled the anthology, Van Gogh Dreams and in 2019, she co-edited with Dawn Hogue, From Everywhere a Little: A Migration Anthology.
