Join us for a rare opportunity to hear readings from the incoming and outgoing Wisconsin Poets Laureate, while enjoying scrumptious pie on Pi Day. The hybrid event provides a chance to be among the first to hear readings by Wisconsin’s new poet laureate, the heralded Nicholas Gulig. Nicholas will be joined by departing poet laureate, the powerful Dasha Kelly Hamilton. This Academy event is in partnership with the Poet Laureate Commission.

Nicholas Gulig is a Thai-American poet from Wisconsin. The author of North of OrderBook of Lake, and Orient, he currently works as an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and lives in Fort Atkinson with his wife and two daughters.

Dasha Kelly Hamilton is the Wisconsin Poet Laureate for 2021-2022. She is a writer, performance artist and creative change agent, applying the creative process to facilitate dialogues around human and social wellness. Dasha is the author of two novels, three poetry collections, four spoken word albums, and one collection of personal vignettes.
