Join curators and artists at the table for brunch and conversation inside the James Watrous Gallery. First in a series of intimate, ticketed events that bring the culinary and visual arts together, Art Bites: FlakPhoto offers an exclusive opportunity to interact with the creative minds behind New Midwest Photography while enjoying a tasty meal.

Specials guests include co-curators Jody Clowes and Andy Adams and photographers Barry Phipps and Dave Jordano.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for Academy members and students. Seating is limited. Advanced registration required.

Andy Adams is an independent producer and publisher whose work explores current ideas in visual culture. He directs FlakPhoto Projects, a digital/arts lab focused on promoting photography in all of its forms. Find him on Instagram @FlakPhoto.

Jody Clowes is the director of the Wisconsin Academy's James Watrous Gallery. With years of experience developing and curating exhibitions, running gallery programs, and writing about art, her background includes senior positions at Milwaukee Art Museum, Detroit's Pewabic Pottery, and the UW-Madison's Design Gallery.

Dave Jordano has been making pictures for nearly fifty years. After a long and successful commercial photography career, he began making personal work in 2000. Since then Jordano has produced several long-term documentary projects, all of them focused on the Midwest.

Since graduating from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1990, Barry Phipps has spent nearly three decades making art in the disciplines of music, fashion, and photography. After living in Chicago for more than twenty years, Phipps and his wife relocated to the comparatively small town of Iowa City.
