Wisconsin People & Ideas Magazine

The award-winning Wisconsin People & Ideas is the only magazine in the state to focus on contemporary Wisconsin thought and culture. It features articles by and about Wisconsin scientists, scholars, artists, writers, policymakers and other people who serve as thought leaders in our state and help shape its culture, as well as cutting-edge fiction, poetry, and visual art. The magazine annually hosts statewide short story and poetry contests, which award cash prizes up to $500, publication in the magazine, and a reading at the Wisconsin Book Festival.

The best resource for an independent perspective on the people and ideas that shape Wisconsin, Wisconsin People & Ideas (formerly the Wisconsin Academy Review) has been published quarterly since 1954 and is distributed to Wisconsin Academy members, bookstores, and libraries throughout the state and beyond.

Single copies and back issues of Wisconsin People & Ideas also are available at our Steenbock Gallery offices, the James Watrous Gallery, or from the Wisconsin Academy online store for $5 per issue (plus postage when applicable). You can browse and search back issues of the magazine prior to 2008 online at the University of Wisconsin Digital Collection's State of Wisconsin Collection.
