Joe Heim is former chair of the Department of Political Science/Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and was Director of the Public Administration Program at the University and acted as the University’s Legislative Liaison. Dr. Heim received his bachelors and masters degrees from Marquette University and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Joe is a political analyst for WKBT (La Crosse)-TV and occasional guest analyst on WPR. He served in the US Navy from 1964-66, and was a Naval Reserve Officer from 1966-1984. He has served three terms on the UW-La Crosse faculty senate, including two terms as Senate Chair. He is or was a member of the Board of Directors for a number of local and regional organization including the American Red Cross, The Chileda Institute, UW-La Crosse Foundation, Riverfront (La Crosse), LeaderEthics-Wisconsin, and the Coulee Region Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Joe is a former Chief Justice appointed member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s Policy and Planning Committee and a past member of the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board. He also served as a member of the Wisconsin Judicial Campaign Integrity Committee (a State Bar committee) and is a member of a number of professional associations including the American Society of Public Administration, and the Wisconsin Political Science Association.
