Lon Michels

Lon Michels has been painting from life for over 45 years, and uses color and pattern to capture the essence or personality of each individual or subject he paints. Michels recently received his MFA from UW-Madison and was nominated for a Joan Mitchell grant in 2007. In his words, “My work questions the history of religion and the objectification of women and men in society, examining the role of male and female beauty. Painting is my passion; I breathe to paint and paint to breathe. My desire is to create works that inspire and bring joy and happiness to the viewer.”
