Marilyn Taylor

A member-at-large of the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission, Marilyn Taylor served as Wisconsin Poet Laureate from 2008–2010, and as Poet Laureate of Milwaukee from 2004 - 2006. Her award-winning work has appeared in a number of poetry journals and anthologies, including POETRY, Able Muse, The American Scholar, MEASURE, The Ledge and Dogwood, among many others. She is the author of six collections of poetry, including Subject to Change (David Robert Books) which was nominated for the Poets Prize; and the chapbook Going Wrong (Parallel Press). For fifteen years Taylor served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UW–Milwaukee, where she taught poetry and poetics for the Department of English and later for the UWM Honors College.  She was also a Contributing Editor for THE WRITER magazine, where her "Poet-to-Poet" column on craft appeared bi-monthly for five years.  Taylor is currently on the board of directors for the Council for Wisconsin Writers, and for the  Low-Residency MFA program at Western State Colorado University.  She now lives in Madison, and continues to offer poetry presentations and to facilitate workshops locally, statewide, and beyond.
