Mya Rodriguez Williams is the Director of Development for the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters. Mya is a dedicated development, public relations, and community engagement professional, specializing in community-centric fundraising, strategic communications, and grassroots advocacy. Her cross-sector experience spans public health research, restorative justice policy development, non-profit program design, and donor relations, allowing her to build meaningful partnerships that connect communities and institutions alike around shared passions for the future.
Mya is also a writer, photographer, and storyteller whose work focuses on capturing and amplifying the voices, experiences, and cultural anthropology of the BIPOC diaspora. Through visual storytelling, written narratives, and community engagement, she is committed to documenting stories of resilience, creativity, and collective triumph that are too often overlooked or marginalized. In addition to her artistic practice, she teaches youth photography and writing workshops throughout Madison, empowering young people to use storytelling as a tool for self-expression, community connection, and social change.
Mya’s work is grounded in the belief that storytelling, relationship-building, and creative expression are essential tools for strengthening communities and creating sustainable funding for advancing equity. She brings this commitment to every aspect of her professional and creative life, working to create intersectional spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
