Sarah Day has been a member of the Acting Company of American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin since 1986. There, she has had the privilege of appearing in many classical roles in plays written by Shakespeare, Chekhov, Wilde, Sheridan, O’Neill, Shaw, Miller, Williams, Beckett, and fellow Madison native Thornton Wilder.
Day is a Wisconsin native, and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She began her theatrical career at Wilson Street East Dinner Playhouse while pursuing her BA in History at UW-Madison.
She has had the opportunity to work with each the Artistic Directors of the Spring Green company. Randall Duk Kim, Anne Occhiogrosso, David Frank and Brenda DeVita. Each of these dedicated leaders have had an incredible impact on the artistic life of Wisconsin, and upon her development as a theatre professional. Day has also appeared with Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, First Stage, The Fireside, Next Act Theatre, and Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
In 2009, Day became part of another group of theater professionals who co-founded Madison’s Forward Theater Company. This company, led by Artistic Director Jennifer Uphoff Gray, is dedicated to producing more modern plays, and to providing a home base for Wisconsin theater professionals and audiences that will expand the cultural and economic life of the greater Madison area. Day is a member of Forward's Advisory Company.
