Yia Lor is a healing-centered leader, writer, and Director of Soul Calling Sanctuary, which provides trauma-informed wellness services throughout Northwestern Wisconsin. She believes healing is both a personal journey and a collective process. Her mission-driven approach integrates behavioral health, equity, and creative wellness.
Creative expression is central to Yia’s healing practice. She uses writing and other creative practices to support individuals in their recovery, helping people process experiences, reconnect with themselves, and build resilience. This approach bridges her trauma-informed wellness practice and her role as a writer and storyteller.
Storytelling and community collaboration are woven throughout Yia’s career. She has served on the advisory board of the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild and collaborated with Too Small to Fail to develop Talking is Teaching resources for the Hmong community. Her writing has been featured in Wisconsin Life and Volume One Magazine, earning recognition from the Milwaukee Press Club and the Midwest Broadcast Journalist Association.
