Join Alison Gates, Colin Matthes, and Wisconsin Academy staff to celebrate the opening of the exhibitions Points of Departure and The Days Go By Like Wildness at the James Watrous Gallery. These paired solo exhibits will be on view from April 28, 2023 through July 23, 2023.

Artists’ talks begin at 7:00 p.m.

Free and open to the public. Light refreshments available. Masks recommended. 

Contributors

Alison Gates (Appleton) is an artist, academic, educator, writer, researcher, feminist, and reviewer who cultivates flax and natural dyes on the side. She works primarily in assemblage sculpture and stitched or knitted/knotted textiles with emotional and political content.

Colin Matthes has been making instructional drawings for the past thirteen years. This drawing practice has drastically improved Colin’s remembering, storytelling, and creative thinking capabilities. Total Essential Knowledge workshops are how Colin shares and teaches these creative breakthroughs with others.
