Join Liz Bachhuber, Jill Sebastian, and Wisconsin Academy staff to celebrate the opening of the exhibition, Eat My Words at the James Watrous Gallery. The joint exhibition will be on view from August 1 through October 12, 2025.

Remarks begin at 2:30pm. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments served.

Following the artists' reception, there will be a local screening of Handmade in Bangladesh, a documentary film directed and produced by Florian Wehking and exhibiting artist Liz Bachhuber. For information about this exciting opportunity, visit the event webpage.

Liz Bachhuber

Liz Bachhuber is a sculptor, installation artist, and Professor of Fine Art (Frei Kunst) at the Bauhaus University-Weimar. Her research interests and artistic practice focuses on the environment with a particular emphasis on the found object in art and the global implications of unbridled consumerism and the resulting garbage.

Jill Sebastian

Jill Sebastian’s artistic practice has been formed by growing up in Midwestern steel towns, and she is committed to exploring relationships between nature and culture, material and language, environmental science and art.

The Academy creates a special series to explore big themes and issues through a dynamic, interdisciplinary series of public programs, art exhibitions, workshops, magazine features, and civil discourse, in partnership with organizations across the state.

Events are open to the public, with hybrid and virtual options typically available for statewide connections.
