Adena Rissman

Dr. Adena Rissman is a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of the Human Dimensions of Ecosystem Management in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She's an affiliate faculty of the Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies, Community and Environmental Sociology, Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs, Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies, and Agroecology program.

Rissman's interdisciplinary research investigates the relationships between society and the environment in ecosystem management, conservation, and sustainable use. She investigates institutional approaches to conservation and new models of environmental governance. 

Adena Rissman received her Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Before graduate school, Rissman worked as a forest planner for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and received her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
