Hinu Smith is the Executive Director for the newly operational Department of Agriculture for the Ho-Chunk Nation. She also serves as the Ho-Chunk Nation delegate for the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Food Coalition and for the Wisconsin Tribal Conservation Advisory Council. Hinu has served the Ho-Chunk Nation in various capacities, more recently in Social Services Indian Child Welfare and as the District 1 Legislative Representative (elected). Currently, she serves on the First Nations Community Financial (FNCF) Board of Directors as Vice-Chairperson, and, previously, as Board Secretary. In the past, Hinu has also served on the Board of Directors for the Ho-Chunk Nation Department Labor and Ho-Chunk Nation Department of Administration. She has lobbied at the state level on issues impacting the Ho-Chunk Nation, it's Tribal Membership and Ho-Chunk Nation sovereignty. Hinu Smith has a passion for empowering her people and uplifting communities.
