Maithilee Kanthi has been working as the Climate Justice Organizer at Clean Wisconsin for the last two years where she organizes a broad coalition of support for equitable climate solutions. In this role, she's helped promote Milwaukee's Climate and Equity Plan, organized educational events about green infrastructure, mobilized community members to advocate for energy efficiency, and connected with dozens of community leaders across the state to foster a collaborative climate movement.
Maithilee began her journey in the climate justice movement when she, inspired by the vision of the Green New Deal, launched a chapter of the youth-led climate advocacy group Sunrise Movement at her college in 2019. As a young organizer, she helped coordinate opposition to new oil fracking in the Cat Canyons and organized rallies and educational events to grow the movement. Maithilee graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2020 with a degree in Political Science and Global Studies. When Maithilee's not organizing for climate justice, she can be found reading, enjoying the warm weather, or spending time with her two cats.
