Valerie Laken is the Pushcart Prize-winning author of the novel, Dream House, which received the Anne Powers award and was named among Kirkus Review's Best Books of 2009. She holds an MFA from the University of Michigan and teaches in the graduate program for Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her new short story collection, Separate Kingdoms, was published by Harper Perennial in February, 2011.
