Meet The Fellows

Warrington Colescott

Colescott is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Academy, an Academician of the National Academy of Design, and has won prizes in five of their annual exhibits and has juried their graphic entries three times. He was appointed Printmaker Emeritus by the Southern Graphics Council in 1992, a special honor.

Alfred Bader

Alfred Bader is the founder and former chairman of Aldrich Chemical Company in Milwaukee. Bader was born in Vienna, Austria, and received degrees from Queen’s University in Ontario and Harvard University, as well as honorary degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Purdue University, the University of Sussex, and Northwestern University. Among his credits are many patents and publications related to chemistry.

Paul Hayes

Paul G. Hayes' journalism career covered 37 years (1958 -1995), the last 33 for The Milwaukee Journal. He first covered public planning and transportation, an assignment that led logically to environmental policy, the natural and physical sciences, and energy policy. He was named environmental reporter in 1969, one of the first in the nation assigned to that specialty full time. From 1987 until retirement in 1995, he wrote for Wisconsin, The Journal's Sunday magazine.

Roland Johnson

Roland Johnson, who passed away May 30, 2012, was the Music Director Laureate of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the founder of Madison Opera. He assumed the position of Music Director and Conductor of the MSO in 1961 and the position as Artistic Director for and founder of Madison Opera in the same year.

Nancy O. Lurie

Nancy Oestreich Lurie was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on January 29, 1924. She received her bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin in 1945, master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1947, and doctorate from Northwestern University in 1952. Lurie began her teaching career in 1947 at the University of Wisconsin Extension in Milwaukee.
