Peter Sheehan is the Robert and Sally Manegold Distinguished Curatorial Chair and Head of Geology Department at the Milwaukee Public Museum and Adjunct Professor in Geosciences at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
Dr. Hans Sollinger earned his M.D. from the University of Munich, Germany, in 1973, and his Ph.D. from the University of Munich in 1975. He came to the University of Wisconsin in 1975, where he finished a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Immunobiology Research Center. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin from 1976-1980. In 1980 Dr. Sollinger joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin under the leadership of Dr. Folkert O.
R. Alta Charo is the Warren P. Knowles Professor of Law and Bioethics at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she is on the faculty of the Law School and the Department of Medical History and Bioethics at the medical school. She also serves on the faculty of the UW Masters in Biotechnology Studies program and lectures in the MPH program of the Dept. of Population Health Sciences.
John Harmon was born in 1935 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He began playing piano at a young age with his mother, who played mostly by ear. She taught him the basics, and the two harmonized tunes together. His exposure to jazz came early, too, thanks in part to his father's extensive collection of jazz records, which included recordings of such greats as Duke Ellington, Teddy Wilson, and Art Tatum.
Dr. Joanne Kluessendorf directs the Weis Earth Science Museum, the official mineralogical museum of Wisconsin. Located on the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley campus in Menasha, the museum focuses on Wisconsin geology and mining history. She holds B.S. and Ph.D.
Truman Lowe was a professor of art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An acclaimed sculptor who exhibited nationally and internationally, he served as curator of contemporary art in 2000 for the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian. His work reflected his Ho-Chunk ancestry and culture and often captured the beauty and force of moving water. Lowe was a dedicated teacher and mentor who helped others discover their own artistic voices.
A professional musician and entertainer since the late 1960's, Warren Nelson's trail has taken him across the US, "both sides of 1970." From his first full-time professional group The Tenth Story Window (he met Elvis twice!), to Colorado where he spent five years writing and playing music in the mountains, to the Madison, Wisconsin area where he formed the Lost Nation String Band with Don Pavel.
Bassam Z. Shakhashiri is the first holder of the William T. Evjue Distinguished Chair for the Wisconsin Idea at UW-Madison. He is well known internationally for his effective leadership in promoting excellence in science education at all levels, and for his development and use of demonstrations in the teaching of chemistry in classrooms as well as in less formal settings, such as museums, convention centers, shopping malls and retirement homes.
