FAQs
Should I attend Climate Fast Forward in person or virtually?
CFF is a highly participatory conference that relies on attendees to interact with each other to accomplish the goal of creating a collaborative roadmap for immediate action on climate change in Wisconsin. The opening and closing plenary sessions will both be offered in virtual formats, but the main work of the day will be in five facilitated working groups. This work is most easily accomplished in person.
COVID-19 Policies at Climate Fast Forward
The Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters cares about the health and welfare of conference attendees at Climate Fast Forward 2022. As of October 3rd, 2022, the community level of COVID-19 in Dane County is categorized as Medium by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In accordance with CDC guidance, we have the following recommendations to conference-goers.
- If you are at high risk of getting very sick, wear a high-quality mask or respirator (e.g., N95) when indoors in public, including at Climate Fast Forward
- If you test positive for COVID-19 within five days of the conference, please do not attend the conference in-person. If you test positive within 6-10 days of the conference, you may attend in-person, we ask that you wear a mask. If you are negative within a 10-day window of the conference, masks are not required.
These recommendations and others will be determined closer to the date of any particular event, and may change between now and the day of the conference, October 17th. If there is a change to our COVID-19 protocols, we will notify all conference attendees via email and a Whova app message.

Can I switch to a different track after lunch?
Please plan to stay in the track you selected during registration (which will be indicated on your name tag that you will receive at event check-in). Climate Fast Forward is designed as a working conference with breakout tracks. Each track will follow an innovative, facilitated process that will build from start to finish and synthesize the direct, co-generated strategies of all participants into an action plan. The resulting plan will be shared with decision-makers around the state—both at the conference and at a follow-up briefing in the new year that will be open to the general public and a variety of invited policymakers. As such, we strongly recommend that all participants stick with their track throughout the day to see the process through, beginning to end.
Conference travel and registration support.
To ensure diverse attendance from all across Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters has raised funds to support individuals or organizations for whom the cost of travel and/or registration would be a burden. Please note the travel funding has run out. If you would like to discuss a reduced registration fee, please contact environment@wisconsinacademy.org with the subject line CFF: Conference Support.
