Solar Energy Financing

For our third annual Local Government Summit, the Wisconsin Academy and partners gathered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on April 23-24, 2018, to share practical resources and explore emerging issues in local energy planning and resilience in Wisconsin communities. This talk from the Leading the Charge 2018 Summit, "Solar Energy Financing," features a discussion with Sherrie Gruder from UW-Extension, Jason Stringer from WECC, Erika Kluetmeier from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and Kurt Reinhold from Legacy Solar Cooperative. 

A part of the Wisconsin Academy's Climate & Energy Initiative program, this Leading the Charge 2018 Summit presentation was recorded by Wisconsin Public Television for University Place.

Sherrie Gruder, LEED AP, is a Distinguished Sustainable Design Specialist and Energy Strategist with UW-Madison Division of Extension.

Erika Kluetmeier is a sustainability advisor at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. She provides technical assistance to businesses and local communities who want to find innovative solutions to create more sustainable organizations.

Kurt Reinhold is the founder and president of Legacy Solar Wisconsin Cooperative. His company, Solar Connections LLC, put together the first municipal tax financing project for solar in Wisconsin in 2013, Reinhold has helped develop community-funded solar projects for communities across Wisconsin.

Jason Stringer is a Senior Manager of Clean Energy Finance at Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC).  In his role at WECC, Stringer serves as a project finance expert with a successful track record of creating value in the clean energy finance and commercial real estate development industries.
